Wire Crochet Workshop - Kurs izrade nakita od kukičane žice

>>> Passing knowledge to people who are genuinely and passionately interested to learn new skills, can be just as equally challenging and gratifying as designing and making jewelry. Especially when you have a raw diamond in front of you ,who isn't even aware enough of all her talents and potentials. I'm sure that a lady that came to me to teach her about wire crochet jewelry is going to make her mark in jewelry design soon, first because she knows exactly what she wants. Once she was introduced what can be made in this technique, she described me what she would like to try. It was a two day intensive course and this necklace was the outcome at the end of day one.

>>> <<<

>>> When you have a student who is carefully listening, you are ready to make a real effort and do your best. I would explain the steps in detail and she was able to repeat it successfully almost immediately, with a speed of a person who was practicing wire crocheting for much longer. But this was the first time she was crocheting with wire. That's how we were able to do much more than I ever expected :).

>>> I think you can tell it just by the way she holds her hands, like a real professional, isn't she:)! If I knew that she is going to be able to make a necklace which would fit rather to an advanced course, I wouldn't give her a chunky crochet hook, but much finer one instead. Once she started crocheting I realized : "Oh, my God, this girl is not going to be happy with a simple chain piece of jewelry! We got to do something she could be proud of :)!"

>>> During the course student was also able to learn about how to make jump rings and connectors, how to attach two design elements together and how to attach a piece of wire crochet element to a thicker gauge wire. She was also able to learn of how to use some basic jewelry making tools and about wire gauges and their purposes.

>>> This piece of jewelry is made of aluminium gold tone wire, which is much stiffer than regular knitting wire. So, when I think again, chunky crochet hook was an actually good choice.

>>> Crocheting with aluminium wire can be much more harder for your fingers and more time consuming, but the end result is worth of it, because with additional processing what you get is a firm, solid and long lasting piece of jewelry.

>>> This necklace is a proof that even the simplest stitches can result in the most intricate, lacy structure. The same goes for the simple geometric forms, like squares and rectangles. The combination of two gives a piece of jewelry than looks both modern and vintage, at the same time.

<<< Ovakva ogrlica je dokaz da čak i najjednostavniji bodovi mogu rezultirati kompleksnom, čipkastom strukturom. Isto važi i za jednostavne geometrijske forme, poput kvadrata i pravougaonika. Kombinacijom ovakvih tehnika i oblika se postiže da takav komad nakita izgleda istovremeno moderno i starinski.
>>> The purpose of this project was to teach the student a wire crochet technique, just with wire, with no beads. Instead of plenty of seed or tinier beads, piece was decorated with crystal clear and mate glass beads, round ones and little bit larger.

>>> These are photos from the course, day two, and we did quite the opposite here: the project was a simple bracelet, but with beads. A lot of seed and tiny crystal beads, in black, white and red, because that's the student's favorite color combo :).

>>> The wire was silver plated copper wire, again the stiffer one, but the end result is more than perfect for the beginner :)!

>>> I forgot to mention that student brought herself  the closure that she liked and we previously determined the width of the bracelet. So she also learned how to attach a bracelet to this type of closure.

>>> We were both impatient to see how does the bracelet fit to her hand. So the slogan of the course could also be: " Come, make it, wear it :)! "  I enjoyed a lot these two days! Looking forward to see the future work of this talented woman.
