Združeni u jednodušnosti, venčani u ljubavi, sjedinjeni u jedno telo:) - Together in unanimity, married in love, united in one body:)

Stare, kamene zgrade, zidine, kolorit samog grada, kaldrmisane ulice, obnovljeni most, planine i sama priroda u pozadini još vise ističu estetiku celog događaja i stvaraju osećaj bezvremenosti.

*** Translation in English *** ( I gave my best, please, be kind to me:):

Just a few posts below, I was writing about how I made bridal wreaths and  nuptial adornments for the wedding of Branislav and Tamara Rajkovic from Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and how much I enjoyed during the whole creative process. This unusual couple has very distinctive taste level and sense of aesthetics. I knew that they planed their wedding very carefully, paying much attention to each detail. But not until I received photos from their wedding I could ever realize how  beautifully they thought the whole event out. So I can say that I am really happy that I was ,too, a part of it.

Being a mix of modern and traditional serbian wedding, this one was unusual in so many ways, that I wanted to say a few words about it, as well as about people who thought it out:).

People: Branislav Rajkovic graduated theology on Orthodox Theological Faculty in Belgrade and is going to be a future cleric, placed in his hometown of  Mostar. Tamara Jojic, now Rajkovic, has MA in Art History from Faculty of Philosophy - University of Belgrade. Both of them are quite unique individuals, warm and kind, and I am glad that I hung a little out with them, while working out to meet their expectations. They were also very attentive and let me express my own ideas and creativity, so I would say this was a good example of cooperation and being open for suggestions from both sides.

City: Mostar - a beautiful old city that seems like it was creating its own beauty for centuries, only to wait for Tamara and Branislav to perpetuate moments from their weddings right there. Ancient stone buildings, walls, ruins of Blagaj castle, cobbled streets, coloring of the city itself, renewed old bridge, mountains and nature emerging from the background, all of that even more emphasize the aesthetics of whole event and create the feeling of eternity. I don't know wheather it's beacuse of the landscape, their outfits or something that is within themselves, but to me they look like prince and princess from some long passed times, almost like form fairytail:).

Wedding outfit: I was interested and asked Branislav to explain how they came to idea to look exactelly like this, and he put a real effort to provide me with exact and detailed information, that I think it's the best just to quote his own words:

" The inspiration for our wedding outfit comes from Serbian city costume that was typical for the city of Mostar and also from the national costume of Serbs from Herzegovina. We can safely say that this is stylized national costume from Serbs from Herzegovina, or more precisely, from Mostar. Patterns and motifs with golden embroidery has been taken over from that costume and applied in modern way. Instead of woolen cloth in red, blue and white color, we used both coarse and smooth Shantung silk in pearl white color. According to their characteristics, national costume of Serbs from Herzegovina is one of the oldest within the entire Serbian etnological world and besides others it also contains some Levantine elements.

Simply, in arranging our wedding we just used our common sense and we tried to influence everything we can to have some meaning. We were guided by the idea to make clear why is something exactely the way it is, not by clishes like " everybody else are doing this way" or "should be done that way". Even more, we didn't even tried to be authentic or different from others, because we knew THAT is exactly what is tricky and stereotyped. Our primary goal was to acheive something that reflects who we really are, true ourselves. Well, in some ways we are just like other people, so are some elements of our wedding gowns. On the other hand, we are also unique, both as a couple and as individuals and I guess that's what came out as authenticity. The whole event: people, outfit, music...We strived everything to be as exact as possible, the picture of our life, our past, present, even future, and finaly our eternity. We were both dressed in same fabric, same colors, same adornments, because the comprehension that only the bride is important and that only she should be in white, is complete wrong. On wedding,
two people become one, and that should be expressed through wedding garments, too.

As for bridal wreaths and what would be interesting for you: in the act of The sacraments of marriage there is a liturgical verse or scriptural passage, called Prokimenon or Prokimen,  sung or read before the apostolic reading: " You have set upon their heads wreaths of precious stones. They asked life of You, and You gave it to them." That inspired us to have the same wreaths for us. Setting wreaths upon heads of newlyweds is older tradition, byzantine, or even jewish maybe. That's why this act is called Vencanje or Wreathing, literaly translated. What is common today in Serbian Ortodix wedding is Crowning ( setting crown instead of wreath ). That is a newer, Russian practice. It should symbolize that marriage is a crowning of love of two people and their prevous mutual lives. There is even an older, ancient tradition that includes wreaths made from fresh or dried flowers. That makes two of us, and you along with us, probably the first people on Earth who made and used wire wreaths decorated with semiprecous stones and glass beads...:)."

It is worth mentioning that these perfectly cut and sewn wedding garments have been made in tailor studio "Erika", Backa Topola, Serbia owned by Erika Tot. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Krojacki-salon-Erika-/305070032875131?fref=ts

Bridal wreaths and nuptial adornments: since I was already writing about it, here I only enclose photos from wedding with detailed views of how they looked on Branisalv and Tamara.

Finaly I want to thank both of them for forwarding me these beautiful photos:)!

Vencanja, vencanja:)

Wedding Season - Sezona Vencanja

A little journey into world of bead looming - Mali izlet u svet tkanja perlicama

Rustic ring in gold & teal tones - Rusticni prsten u zlatno-petrolej tonovima

I was just kidding with a friend on Facebook that if I kept on with building this ring up I would've soon end up with a Chrysler building instead:). And really, this ring is quiet bold and chunky. However, I think it's stil not bling and tacky. It's actualy rustic and to me looks like a piece of raw mineral rock. I made it from brass wire and fire-polished glass faceted beads in teal and gold tones which match the color of the brass ( that is more like a antique gold ).The gold tones than were accentuated with a tiny transparent matching color Swarovski-like beads, that add a little sparkle and magic to the whole piece. When I started looping the wire I couldn't predict how it would look at the end, so this is a capricious 'little" ring too, that has life of his own:). It's huge and I like to wear it on my index finger and thumbs. I was so happy how it looks that I played and over-played with photo-shooting, but at least you can see how it looks on hand and on its own.

Borte necklace - Borte ogrlica

 - Just watched ( for a second time since last night ) a fascinating movie " Mongol " ( The rise of Genghis Khan ) by Sergei Bodrov Sr http://www.mongolfilm.ru/site/en/genghiskhan/ . I was so charmed with overall aesthetics ( costumes, stage design, the beauty of people who acted, their horses,  landscapes, filmed in Khazahstan, China, Russia, Germany and USA ) that  I even managed to go through brutal scenes of fighting and murders which I would normaly avoid. I named this necklace after Temudgine's beloved wife Borte since I feeled so inspired. I sincerely recommend this wonderfull movie to everyone!

Here are some details about the necklace:
*** Borte necklace: copper wire necklace with a pendant;

- Finishing: oxidized, polished, laquered;
