Beautiful Weekend - Prelep vikend

* In Saturday I have experienced that internet and blogging, in this particular case, can bring people together. That's how I met Dragana, another creative person that is, hopefully soon, going to share her creative work with us. With her own blog:). Since we live in a different parts of the city the day began with me being the "host" at one of the splavs ( a specialty of Belgrade ), a floating river club at Zemun Kej near Hotel Yugoslavia. The conversation went easy with the light breeze on a hot summer day. We both decided that the weather was beautiful and at noon, Dragana suggested to let her be the host. She told me that I am going to like the places she wants to show me and she took me to the hilly parts of Belgrade. Kosutnjak, to be the more precise, a park-forest and urban neighborhood of Belgrade. In a manner of an experienced historian Dragana told me a lot of interesting things of Kosutnjak and Rakovica county that ( I'm ashamed to say ) I didn't know before. And most of it is connected with Royal Families of Karadjordjevic and Obrenovic Dynasty. Even the name, Košutnjak, is derived from the medieval hunting forests of the Serbian nobility, meaning doe's breeder. (In Serbian, košuta means doe, hind) - see the Wikipedia article for more details.
Another surprise came along when she took me to the Aleksandar Klub Ski Staza , a fency restoran with a breathtaking panoramic view in the hart of Kosutnjak. Since it can be only reached with car and being a non-driver, somehow I never came across with this beautiful place before. Thank you Dragana once again for showing me all of that. I felt like a tourist in my own city:))
But, hey, that's not all! Before I knew I was on my way to Avala mountain ( that's Dragana too, a very initiative person, you are guaranteed never to be bored with her:)!! As happy as a child I was looking forward to visit this beautfull place after, how many...25 years maybe. And that's the shame too since it can be even reached by city buss ( No 541 ). The photos above has been taken there. I don't know which I enjoyed more, the huge colorfull butterflies that were everywhere or the marvellous view of beautiful landscapes stretching far, far away somewhere in Serbia, a beautiful land of mine. Thanks Dragana, really:))!
